Good booking situation and a positive feeling ahead of the summer – this is how Visit Dalarna describes the 2021 tourist summer in the county after calling around 80 of the county's accommodation facilities. Something that camping owner Ben De Vries at Säters camping agrees with. 

– We were packed during Midsummer and now this week people continue to stream in, he says.

At the same time, many of the campsites surveyed testify that it has been very tough financially during the pandemic, and Visit Dalarna notes that the lack of foreign tourists is noticeable to many and that there will probably be few international guests this summer.

– Most of our guests come from Sweden, but there are a few who come from Germany and this week we had a couple from Switzerland, says Ben De Vries.

Why do you think camping is so popular now? 

– Many people still don't dare to travel abroad and therefore we believe that more people are looking for nice places in Sweden.
