The French government is extending the curfew between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. to 38 additional regions, Health Minister Jean Castex announced on Thursday.
At the same time, restrictions are being extended in regions that were previously under curfew. The new rules, which come into effect at midnight on Saturday, will apply for six weeks and affect 54 of 96 departments, which means just over 46 million people.
”In recent days, an already serious situation has worsened,” commented Jean Castex.
Violating the ban will result in a fine of 135 euros, and if it is repeated, the bill will increase to 3,750 euros.
