The municipal company Halmstads Flygplats AB is to be granted financial support of just over SEK 21 million for 2023, the Personnel and Management Committee proposes.
The financial support of SEK 21,523,000 partly includes SEK 2,523,000 in operating support for 2023 from the Swedish Transport Administration. The remaining SEK 19,000,000 is a group contribution from the parent company Halmstads Rådhus AB to cover the company's deficit from 2022.
The question of financial support for the airport is a recurring issue every year. With support from EU state aid rules, municipalities have the right to provide financial support to airports that have fewer than 200,000 passengers per year. In 2022, Halmstad Airport had 76,572 passengers, which is an increase since 2021 when there were 41,370 passengers.
