On Boxing Day, one of Thomas Cook's planes flew a somewhat unusual route over Stockholm.

It was pilot Dan and co-pilot Ole who decided to give a Christmas greeting from the sky.

– We wanted to send a heart to all our Swedish friends, says pilot Dan Skjödt Hansen.

Many were quite surprised when they saw which route one of Thomas Cook's planes chose to fly on Boxing Day.

The route took the shape of a large heart over Stockholm. But it was no coincidence that it took that particular shape, reveals pilot Dann Hansen to Aftonbladet.

– I am from Denmark and Ole, who is the coxswain, is from Norway. He was the one who came up with the idea that we should send a heart to our Swedish friends this Christmas, says Dan Skjödt Hansen.
The flight took off from Arlanda in the morning and flew following a drawn pattern over the Stockholm sky.

”They thought it was a nice gesture”
The plane that flew had no passengers on board, but is on standby in case there is any trouble with the other planes. But the pilots always test-fly the plane. But it has never flown in the shape of a heart – something that was not easy to achieve either.
– The preparations for the route are the difficult part. Ole laid out points over Stockholm in the shape of a heart. Then we had to talk to air traffic control to get approval, says Dan and continues:

– They thought it was a nice gesture, so with a little cooperation we made it happen, which was fun.
The pilot and first officer thought the greeting was appropriate during Christmas, as they fly many Swedes to various destinations. The heart symbol is also the symbol that Thomas Cook has in its logo, which was fitting.
And the loving greeting from above has also received a lot of attention.
– Many people have followed us on flightradar and many people think it's nice and have posted it on social media, says Dan, who himself is pleased with today's heartfelt greeting.
