Here is the Gotland ferry of the future

Rederi AB Gotland is now presenting a concept for the ferries of the future, which will be operated by its subsidiary Destination Gotland. These will be the first large hydrogen-powered ships in Sweden. 

– We are convinced that technological developments will enable emission-free shipping, and our work on developing a concept for an emission-free ship is a very important part of being able to create climate-neutral Gotland traffic, says Håkan Johansson, CEO of Rederi AB Gotland, in a press release. 

The hydrogen will power gas and steam turbines that will not produce any climate-impacting emissions. The ambition is to order a ship in 2025 and then have it in service by 2030 at the latest.
