Heat record – never been warmer so early in the year

A new world heat record occurred in Mali yesterday. The temperature measured was 48.5°C.

Never before has such heat been measured anywhere in the world so early in the year. It is also a new African heat record for the month of April.

Last year was also the warmest year ever measured.
