London Heathrow increased its passenger numbers more than any other airport in Europe in 2022. In total, the airport was used by 61.1 million passengers, an increase of just over 42 million compared to the previous year, writes the Evening Standard.
The large increase in passengers is explained by the fact that the UK abolished all Covid-related restrictions in March 2022, after having had some of the toughest pandemic regulations in Europe the previous year.
Despite the upturn, however, demand for air travel to and from the airport was still only 76 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
