London's Heathrow Airport, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, halved its revenue and made a loss of £917 million in the first half of the year.
Revenues amounted to 348 million pounds (712).
The adjusted operating profit was -442 million pounds (136).
Profit after tax amounted to 917 million pounds (998).
During the first half of the year, a total of 3.8 million passengers traveled through Heathrow, which is significantly lower than during the same period last year when there were a total of 15.4 million travelers.
In the report, Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye states that the UK is falling behind its European rivals in international trade as a result of the country moving more slowly in lifting restrictions. He sees the replacement of PCR tests with lateral flow tests and the EU opening up to vaccinated American travellers towards the end of July as a way to speed up the recovery of the UK economy.
