In September 2022, Hector Rail will start operating night trains between Malmö and Padborg, a section of Stockholm and Hamburg for SJ, which corresponds to approximately 365 days a year.
Hector Rail and SJ are starting a collaboration for train hauling in Sweden and Denmark for the night train service to Hamburg. The train will be hauled by Hector Rail's locomotive type 241 with carriages that SJ rents from the German train operator RDC.
Hector Rail operates the section between Malmö-Padborg-Malmö which takes about 4 hours.
Before Hector Rail hands over the train for onward travel with RDC in Padborg and SJ in Malmö, it makes stops in Kastrup and Odense.
- We are delighted to be working with SJ and as a sustainable and flexible train operator, it feels good to contribute to making it easier for train passengers to get to Europe. Through this collaboration, we continue to connect Scandinavia with the continent, says Henrik Filipsson, Account Manager at Hector Rail.
