Today, this year's heat record of 34.6 degrees could be broken.

SMHI is expecting temperatures of around 35 degrees in parts of Götaland. But even though it might be a record, it's still some way off the very highest temperatures ever recorded in Sweden.

The five highest temperatures ever recorded in Sweden:

38.0°C in Målilla on 29 June 1947 and Ultuna on 9 July 1933

37.4°C in Uppsala on 9 July 1933

36.9°C in Harads on 17 July 1945

36.8°C in Holma 9 Aug. 1975, Ulvhäll 9 July 1933 and Ultuna 11 July 1901

36.4°C in Gävle on 30 June 1947, Holma on 8 August 1975, and Lessebo on 7 August 1975

The five lowest temperatures ever recorded in Sweden:

-52,6°C in Vuoggatjålme on 2 February 1966

-52.1°C in Vuoggatjålme on 4 February 1966

-49.4°C in Nikkaluokta on 2-3 February 1966

-49.0°C in Karesuando on 27 Jan. 1999 and Vuoggatjålme on 1 Jan. 1951

-48.9°C in Hemavan 30 Dec. 1978, Naimakka 27 Jan. 1999 and Nedre Soppero 27 Jan. 1999
