On Monday, it was announced that car rental company Hertz had ordered 100,000 Tesla cars. Now it is also clear that the company has begun a collaboration with taxi app Uber that will add up to 50,000 Tesla cars that Uber drivers will be able to rent through the company's network.

The partnership will begin on November 1st, when Uber drivers will be able to rent Tesla cars from Hertz through the program in a number of US cities. By 2023, Hertz will offer up to 50,000 Tesla cars through the partnership, and if the program is successful, it could be expanded to 150,000 cars over the next three years. 

Tesla surged 12.7 percent on Monday after the Hertz order was announced. The stock is up about 1.9 percent in U.S. premarket trading Wednesday. Uber is up 2.2 percent in premarket trading.
