A real high summer week awaits all holidaymakers in the country.
– Friday could be the warmest day of the year, says Moa Hallberg, meteorologist at SMHI.
On Tuesday, high pressure will come in from Europe and is expected to bring temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius for the rest of the week — from north to south.
– From Wednesday we will have temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees, except in the mountain range, says Moa Hallberg.
Locally, temperatures could reach over 30 degrees Celsius by the end of the week. There could also be tropical nights, when temperatures stay above 20 degrees Celsius around the clock.
– In eastern Sweden we may get an occasional degree above thirty on Friday.
How long the high summer heat will last is still unclear, according to SMHI.
– There may be a transition to more unstable weather after the weekend, but the heat may also remain longer.
In the inland and coastal areas of Norrbotten, temperatures of over 25 degrees are expected already at the beginning of the week due to warm Russian winds blowing in.
– We have issued a message about high temperatures there, says Moa Hallberg.
SMHI does not yet have any warnings in connection with the upcoming heat wave, but expects to issue class 1 heat warnings later this week.
