HIGHLANDER Velebit is a hiking event that gathers participants from all over the world every autumn in two of Croatia's most scenic national parks - Northern Velebit and Paklenica. Participants complete the hike without any competitive elements, focusing on experience, physical performance and presence in nature.

The event is based on the basic principles of the growing trend of ”slow adventure”, where the aim is to slow down and deepen the experience rather than achieve a result. The hike is also an opportunity to practice the Croatian philosophy of life a little, which encourages presence, balance, simplicity.

HIGHLANDER is available in four distances, adapted to different levels of experience and ambition:

  • HIGHLANDER Hercules (101 km / 5 days)
  • HIGHLANDER Pegasus (51 km / 3 days)
  • HIGHLANDER Orion (34 km / 2 days)
  • HIGHLANDER Lyra (24 km / 1 day)

The hikes go through hilly terrain on well-marked and safe trails. Along the way there are manned checkpoints with access to refreshments and practical support. Participants hike at their own pace and carry their own equipment, but gather in the evening at common campsites for the night.

HIGHLANDER Velebit 2025 will take place from September 9th to 14th. The deadline for registration is September 3rd and Registration is via www.highlanderadventure.com.

HIGHLANDER is a global initiative for sustainable adventure hiking, with events in over 20 countries. All events are based on the same principles: no competition – just hiking and being present in a safe and supportive environment.
