Högbo Brukshotell & Spa near Gävle has undergone an extensive renovation and will reopen its doors on 1 June to an authentic 1,100 square metre spa with large lounge areas, unique treatments, four pools, and various sauna concepts. The investment in the spa has been made to further position the hotel as a unique and obvious destination for nature-based experiences, relaxation, and culinary craftsmanship, with sustainability at its core.

The new spa at Högbo Brukshotell & Spa has appointed a highly experienced manager in Amy Pettersson, who brings over 23 years of experience from the spa and beauty industry in Australia, Canada, and Sweden. She possesses extensive expertise in various spa concepts, techniques, and products. For the new spa at Högbo, Amy has developed a range of facial and body treatments incorporating guasha and cupping therapy, as well as her own signature scent.
– At the spa, every detail has been carefully selected. We have chosen earthy colours to contribute to a calming atmosphere and to create a relaxing space that promotes well-being. The scent in the spa, which we have developed together with ”Organics by Sara”, contains, among other things, vanilla, pine, thyme and juniper and is a reminder of the location surrounding the hotel. The signature scent will be included in our very own body scrub, which is intended to stimulate all the body's senses., says Amy Pettersson, spa manager, Högbo Brukshotell & Spa.
In addition to the spa, an extensive renovation has been carried out, drawing inspiration from the hotel's surrounding nature. This is clearly evident in the choice of colour, shape, and materials – from the soft earthy.

– Högbo Brukshotell & Spa is an innovative industrial hotel in a former ironworks area. Here, history is combined with locally sourced ingredientsmathantverk and the location have long been a very popular destination for outdoor activities. Now our beloved hotel has had a substantial facelift and with our new spa, the hotel is becoming one of the most interesting destination hotels in central Sweden., says Tomas Lindqvist, CEO of Högbo Brukshotell & Spa.
In addition to a new spa, several bars are also being built, as well as a new bistro concept next to the Orangery, which will have 112 seats. In the newly built Orangery, there is a large open fireplace created by craftsmen at Högbo Bruk as a nod to history. Here, guests can enjoy, among other things, pizzas with local and self-produced ingredients made from the best seasonal raw materials.
Twelve new hotel rooms, eight new conference rooms, a new lobby and reception are also being built. The interior design clearly reflects the history of the hotel and its use, the proximity to nature, but also modern comfort, warmth and personality.
When the Spa is inaugurated, the hotel's name will also be updated and will receive the addition of ”& Spa” to clarify the enhancement of the hotel's offering and to attract a broader target audience.
