The price of international flights was 33 percent more expensive in April than the corresponding time last year, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB).
”"We have measured the average price development of international flights in the consumer price index since 1993. Never before have prices for international flights in April been as high as this year. Only in two months in the entire time series have prices been higher, in July 2018 and July 2022," says Caroline Neander, price statistician at Statistics Sweden (SCB).
Other means of transport such as air charters, up 21.3 percent, and boat trips (19.1 percent) have also skyrocketed in price.
”"International flights, charter flights and boat trips have risen more in price over the past year than the average price trend for private consumption, which we measure in the CPI. That is, more than inflation, which in April was 10.5 percent," says Caroline Neander.
