Hydrogen-powered trains in Germany are a success. After 530 days in service and more than 18,000 kilometers in the luggage, a further 14 hydrogen-powered trains will now be put into operation in 2022.
The trains, Coradia iLint, which take passengers along the almost 100-kilometer route between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude in Lower Saxony, have replaced the diesel-powered trains that previously operated on the same route.
The new trains are completely emission-free. The only emission is water vapor. The trains have a capacity for 300 passengers and a range of 800 kilometers on a full tank.
The hydrogen investment is now moving forward with Lower Saxony replacing the remaining diesel trains with 14 trains in the Coradia iLint series starting as early as 2022, writes the Hydrogen Sweden website.
