BRUSSELS. The EU Commission on Thursday approved Sweden's coronavirus support of SEK 164 million for air traffic control services.
The Commission announced this in a press release.
The Commission noted that the coronavirus restrictions introduced by Sweden caused passenger traffic in Sweden to fall by 75 percent in 2020 compared to 2019.
The support will cover losses during 2020 and 2021 for small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector.
The support is provided in the form of loans at a subsidised interest rate.
The Commission found that the support complies with the EU's softened state aid rules. The term is limited to six years. A fixed interest rate of 1 percent applies for the entire period. And the size of the loans is compatible with EU rules.
