Iceland opens borders – for those with vaccination certificates

Iceland is the first in Europe to open its borders to people with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate. This has caused Iceland's tourism to flourish.

People with vaccination certificates and people who have recently been sick with COVID-19 are allowed into the country without having to quarantine or be tested. 

– People who have been sick with Covid-19 but who have now been healthy for at least two weeks, people who have been vaccinated and people with antibodies can enter the country without being tested, says Sigurgeir Omar Sigmundsson, police chief at Kaflavik Airport. 

The new announcement has caused Icelandic tourism to flourish. According to Visit Iceland, they are already seeing an increase in the number of trips to the country.
