Icelandair is increasing the number of flights by 2 percent from last year and will announce a new flight to Europe within a few weeks. 

At the same time, flights to North America will be reduced and the company expects the 737 Max aircraft that were involved in the accident to be put into service in March next year. The Icelandic airline announced this after finalizing its flight schedule for 2020.

The company has a total capacity of 5.1 million seats and forecasts that the number of passengers next year will amount to 4.2 million. 

The focus for next year is on increasing the number of passengers to and from Iceland. So far this year, the company has transported over 1.6 million passengers in the first ten months of the year.

To achieve this, the frequency of flights to Europe will increase by 2 percent, to destinations such as Copenhagen, Helsinki, Berlin, Zurich, Madrid and Milan. The routes to Paris, Frankfurt and Hamburg will instead be reduced. A new trip to Europe will be announced in a couple of weeks.

At the same time, capacity to North America will decrease by 11 percent from 2019. This is mainly due to the cancellation of flights to San Francisco, Kansas City and Tampa. 

Furthermore, the company expects that the Boeing 737 Max aircraft model will be returned to service in March 2020.
