They have signed cooperation agreements with both Air Greenland and Atlantic Airways. Through these agreements, the airlines will offer seamless connections between Greenland and the Faroe Islands, and onward to both North America and Europe, with a single ticket via Icelandair's hub in Reykjavik.

The new codeshare flights are planned to be fully integrated in the first quarter of 2025 for Icelandair and Atlantic Airways, and later in the year for Air Greenland.

“We have a lot in common as island nations, where we all depend on efficient air connections to reach the rest of the world and to promote the prosperity of our countries. Through this collaboration, we strengthen air traffic in the Western Nordic and Arctic regions, which is an important foundation for future development in the region. We are also pleased to be able to connect Greenland and the Faroe Islands to our extensive sales and distribution network in North America, Europe and other global markets, such as Asia, and thereby highlight these fantastic destinations. The Arctic Circle has established itself as one of the most important arenas for discussions about the Arctic, and it feels particularly meaningful to sign these agreements right here,” says Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair.

“At Atlantic Airways, we are delighted to partner with our sister nation in the northwest. This agreement will strengthen our ties and create more opportunities for both our countries and our travelers. By joining Icelandair’s network, we will have better and more flexible flight options for our passengers, while together we can put our nations on the map as attractive destinations for international visitors,” says Jóhanna á Bergi, CEO of Atlantic Airways.

Jacob Nitter Sørensen, CEO of Air Greenland:

– This historic cooperation agreement is a milestone for Air Greenland. By working together with Icelandair and Atlantic Airways, we are improving air connections in the Nordic and Arctic regions. Together, we are creating new travel opportunities and strengthening the ties between our communities, from the Faroe Islands and Iceland to Greenland and further to Nunavut in northern Canada. This is an exciting chapter in our quest to connect the northern part of the world like never before, adds Jacob Nitter Sørensen, CEO of Air Greenland.
