Several of SkiStar's running and training events taking place in Sälen this summer are already experiencing strong growth, which has had an effect on accommodation bookings. Factors that influence this are increased interest in training and health on TikTok, the fact that the mountains are a place where you can combine health and training with relaxation, and that a trip to the mountains gives you the opportunity to bring family or friends.
The Sälen Mountain Marathon, which is held together with the Skogsmårdarna orienteering club in Malung, is already breaking the old record and is increasing by 75 percent compared to the previous year. The iChallenge Sälen training event with training profiles Karl Dyall and Peter Blaha is seeing an increase of 163 percent and is attracting more and more participants. The Sälen Girls' Marathon, which is a collaboration with the Marathon Group, broke the record last year and continues to grow by 5 percent.
– We are incredibly happy and proud to see the increased interest in mountain training and running, says Stefan Sjöstrand, CEO of SkiStar. It gives us confirmation that we are on the right track in our endeavor to offer more activity days for more people and to combine training with relaxation at our lodges and hotels, which are always the starting point for our events.
In January, a TikTok trend was reported, where many big influencers run a lot – and far – and inspire hundreds of thousands of followers. Young people talk about inspiration that arouses curiosity in their social feeds. The mountain environment is easily accessible and offers opportunities for everyone, regardless of fitness level, to find their training and at the same time enjoy the mountains. After training, there is the opportunity to relax at the spa, relax, swim, sauna world and other activities.
– The great interest that we are already seeing has affected our accommodation bookings in Sälen, which are increasing by 15 percent compared to the previous summer. We have now entered into more collaborations and launched additional attractive events for different target groups where training, health and relaxation go hand in hand. We hope to continue to contribute to this positive development so that we help promote a more active and sustainable lifestyle and increased well-being for as many people as possible, concludes Stefan Sjöstrand.
The statistics in the press release are reported by each actor. The increase in accommodation bookings for Sälen is measured in the number of nights booked through SkiStar's accommodation agency.
