SAS has canceled over 100 flights in Norway this week. The company cites high fuel prices, writes TV2.

The price of oil has risen by almost 50 percent since the outbreak of war in the Middle East at the end of February, and jet fuel prices have followed suit.

This week, SAS has been forced to cancel just over 100 planned flights in Norway, citing high fuel prices.

”"Given the ongoing situation in the Middle East, including the sharp and rapid increase in global fuel prices, we are taking measures to strengthen our resilience. One of these measures is that we are temporarily canceling a limited number of flights," SAS press officer Øystein Schmidt told Norwegian TV2.

Aviation analyst Hans Jørgen Elnæs tells the channel that it is not unusual for airlines to reduce capacity in special situations, and that it mainly concerns domestic routes with good flight frequency.

No canceled SAS flights are visible from the largest Swedish airports on Tuesday.
