The Israeli government has approved a three-week lockdown of the country to stop the spread of the virus, Israeli media reports.
The measure will take effect on Friday. During the lockdown, citizens must stay within 500 meters of their homes, according to the Keshet 12 television channel.
Ben Gurion Airport will remain open, according to another television channel.
The new restriction was approved after the number of people infected with the COVID-19 virus increased in recent weeks, leading to criticism of Prime Minister and Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu's handling of the virus crisis and the economy.
