The United States will raise the price of ESTA, the electronic system for travel authorization required for most people planning to visit the United States as tourists without a visa.
Currently, an ESTA application costs $21, but will be increased to $40 (approximately SEK 380). The price increase is included in the recently approved US budget proposal, the so-called ”One Big Beautiful Bill” that was voted through in the country last week.
There is no information yet on exactly when the ESTA price increase will take place. However, it is expected to come into effect before the USA hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on July 11 next year.
