The Italian government has decided on a new bridge loan of 350 million euros, equivalent to 3.8 billion kronor, to the airline Alitalia, Reuters reports.

The new loan is for the next six months and is being given to Alitalia after a rescue plan has been discussed for months.

According to the news agency, German Lufthansa is interested in assisting Alitalia and government sources say they welcome a stake purchase in the company.

Recently, state-owned railway company Ferrovie dello, together with motorway operator Atlantia, have also entered a consortium to save Alitalia. The latter is expected to receive between 35-40 percent in Alitalia for an investment of 300-400 million euros.

American Delta already owns ten percent of Alitalia. However, the stake could rise to 15 percent if certain changes are made within Alitalia's management and board, according to the company.
