With modern technology and a clear focus on sustainable shipping, Jantar Unity has now made its entrance into the Port of Trelleborg. The new LNG hybrid vessel not only strengthens the route between Trelleborg and Swinoujscie – but also the Port of Trelleborg’s role as a hub for future maritime transport.
On Wednesday, January 21, Unity Line's new ship Jantar Unity was welcomed to the Port of Trelleborg ahead of its maiden voyage to Swinoujscie in Poland. The ship departed at 10:15 a.m. after a welcoming ceremony where Port of Trelleborg CEO Malin Collin presented flowers and a plaque to the ship's captains Wojciech Żukowski and Adam Kowalski. Port representatives also received a guided tour on board.
Jantar Unity will operate the Trelleborg–Swinoujscie route with five to six departures per week. Unity Line has operated the route since 2007 and with the addition of Jantar Unity, the vessel Gryf will be replaced. This means that three vessels now operate on the route: Jantar Unity, Epsilon and Copernicus.
Jantar Unity is the first in a new series of modern Ro-Pax ferries built in Poland. On Saturday, there was an official christening ceremony in Szczecin, which attracted several thousand spectators. The name Jantar means amber in Swedish – a symbol with strong roots in the Baltic Sea region.

Modern and efficient LNG hybrid ship
Jantar Unity is 195.6 meters long and 32.2 meters wide. The vessel is equipped with an advanced and environmentally friendly propulsion system consisting of four LNG engines supplemented by batteries in a hybrid system. The solution contributes to significantly reduced CO₂ emissions.
The ship has capacity for approximately 4,100 cargo meters of cargo, up to 400 passengers and a crew of around 50 people.
Polsca – new jointly owned company
Jantar Unity is painted with the Polsca logo, which stands for Poland Scandinavia. Polsca is a newly established and jointly owned company between Unity Line, Polferries and EuroAfrica Shipping Lines. For the time being, the vessel will fly under the Unity Line flag and bookings will be made via Unity Line, until Polsca is fully established.
