It is "extremely likely" that July will be the hottest month ever globally.

This is shown by forecasts from both the EU and UN weather agencies, reports AFP.

According to both bodies, human emissions of greenhouse gases are the main driver behind rising global temperatures.

– Although El Niño contributes to the heat, the fundamental reason why we are seeing these types of records is the continued emission of large amounts of greenhouse gases by humans.
