The month of July this year was the warmest month ever measured in the world, according to the US weather agency NOAA.

”"In this case, first place is the worst possible ranking," says NOAA administrator Rick Spinrad in a statement on the institute's website.

The temperature on land and in the ocean was 1.67 degrees warmer than the 20th century average, which means that it was the warmest month since measurements began 142 years ago. Previous record temperatures were measured in 2016, which was surpassed in 2019 and 2020.

The Northern Hemisphere also stood out with a 1.54 degree higher average temperature on land than previously recorded.

”July is usually the warmest month worldwide, but 2021 stands out as the warmest month on record. This record adds to the alarming and disruptive direction that climate change has taken for the world,” says Spinrad.
