Dutch airline KLM, one of SAS's new owners, is to cut costs. The cuts are expected to lift profits by around 450 million euros, equivalent to around five billion kronor.

The company management does not say how large the staff cuts will be. The measures also include postponed or scrapped investments.

”"Our aircraft are full, but our capacity is still not back to pre-corona pandemic levels," says KLM CEO Marjan Rintel in a press release.

The airline expects to reduce the number of departures in the future due to a shortage of technicians and supply problems for spare parts.

KLM-Air France's shares rose by just over 2 percent after the announcement. The group is now a major owner of SAS.
