The Dutch airline KLM is announcing further staff cuts in the wake of the corona pandemic. 

In addition to previously announced cuts, 1,500 positions will be cut in the coming years. In total, the workforce, which consisted of 33,000 people before the pandemic, will be reduced by 20 percent by 2022.

The announcement came after parent company Air France-KLM reported an operating loss of 1.55 billion euros, equivalent to approximately 16 billion kronor, for the second quarter, due to a 95 percent decline in passenger traffic.

By comparison, Air France plans to cut 6,500 jobs, or 16 percent of its workforce, through 2022.
