The number of guests at the Gröna Lund amusement park has more than halved after the fatal accident with the Jetline roller coaster.

Concerns and rainy weather are behind the drop in visitors, according to the owner company.

Between 1,800 and 3,200 people per day have visited Gröna Lund since the reopening of the amusement park, according to figures from Parks and Resorts, which owns Gröna Lund.

This compares to between 5,100 and 10,300 visitors per day the week before the accident.

”"The figures show that there is a concern, they are lower than the daily average for the previous year. That is probably the primary reason, the secondary reason is that last week was unfortunately also rainy," writes Max Lagerbäck, acting head of information for Parks and resorts, in a comment to TT.

The daily average for 2022 was around 8,000 visitors per day. 

It was on June 25 that the Jetline roller coaster derailed. A 35-year-old woman died and nine people were injured, including several children.

The Swedish National Accident Investigation Board has launched an investigation into the accident and a prosecutor-led police investigation is also underway to investigate whether any crime has been committed in connection with the accident.

In addition to Gröna Lund's internal controls, all attractions at amusement parks and fairgrounds undergo annual external inspections before the season begins.
