Four Chinese airlines will buy 292 aircraft from Airbus, according to a statement on Friday.
According to Airbus, the deals demonstrate ”positive recovery momentum and a healthy outlook for the Chinese aviation market.”.
The deal is said to be worth 37 billion US dollars – equivalent to 382 billion SEK.
All airlines will purchase the A320 Neo model. China Eastern will purchase 100 aircraft, China Southern 96, and Air China together with its subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines will purchase 96 aircraft.
For Airbus, it is a strategic win over rival Boeing, whose business in China, one of the world's largest aviation markets, has taken a hit after several accidents involving the 737 Max, which was grounded in the country between 2019 and 2021.
