SStockholm Arlanda Airport is undergoing expansion with increasing air traffic, many new company establishments during 2023, and the expansion of existing services at the airport. Together, thousands of new job opportunities are being created at Arlanda, as well as at Swedavia's other airports. To meet the increased recruitment needs, Swedavia, along with partners at the airport, is organising a large recruitment day at Arlanda on January 30th.

Air travel has been given a new lease of life following the pandemic, and airlines are investing heavily with new route launches and re-establishments of flight paths. In mid-2023, a new 11,000 square metre extension to Terminal 5 will also open, featuring around 50 new shops and restaurants, and a modern, expanded security check.

Before the pandemic, around 20,000 people worked at Arlanda, making the airport one of Sweden's largest workplaces. The investments and modernisations currently underway are creating many more job opportunities.

To give airport operators the opportunity to introduce themselves and meet people interested in starting work at Sweden's largest airport, Swedavia, together with partners, is organising a recruitment day at Arlanda on Monday 30 January. The recruitment day will be held at Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport Terminal between 11 am and 6 pm and is open to everyone. No registration is required.

Great interest

– We're seeing a very large interest in the recruitment day and a great turnout from both companies and visitors. We're expecting many visitors, most of whom are job seekers or are coming to find out more about what the airport has to offer in terms of job opportunities, says Marie Wiksborg, Director of Business Support at Swedavia.

– In addition to Swedavia and the various services we offer as airport operators, there are currently around 30 other companies registered. There are vacancies within restaurants, hotels, retail, services, security checks, ground handling, logistics, car rental, technical operations and communications, IT, and administration. Furthermore, the border police, airline BRA, Forex, and VY airport buses will be present to showcase their career opportunities. The positions available to apply for include summer jobs, temporary and permanent positions, it continues Marie Wiksborg.

– Together with our partners, we have an average of 600,000 customer interactions per day at Arlanda. We are very keen to find the best candidates to help create positive customer experiences every day, and we are pleased to see so far that many are interested in working at the airport, says Charlotte Ljunggren, Director of Marketing and Commercial Development at Swedavia and Acting Airport Director of Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

A dynamic environment

Working at an airport, and specifically at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, means working in an exciting, dynamic environment. The whole world meets here every day, and many different parties collaborate to ensure airport operations, passenger flow, and service. A lot can happen at an airport, and the workday is often a mix of set routines and new needs and requests. The wide range of services available means there are jobs to apply for across many different skill sets and interests.

Stockholm Arlanda Airport is Sweden's largest airport with by far the highest proportion of international flights. Despite approximately 20,000 people working at Arlanda and around 600 companies operating at the airport, there is a family-like atmosphere among the staff, regardless of employer.

– A large international airport like Arlanda is a unique work environment where no two days are the same. Even though so many people work at the airport and for many different companies, there is a strong sense of community and good cooperation. This, along with the dynamic environment with many encounters with people from all over the world, makes the workplace truly special, says Charlotte Ljunggren.

– In addition to modernising Arlanda leading to better passenger experiences, it will also be a completely new experience to work in the airport's expanded, airy premises with an increased commercial offering, and in the new modern security control. The security control in Terminal 5 will be considerably expanded and equipped with the very latest technology. Passengers will not need to take liquids, computers or tablets out of their bags, continues Charlotte Ljunggren.

Representatives from Swedavia's regional airports

The aviation sector's recovery is happening across Sweden at all ten of Swedavia's airports. In addition to services to Stockholm Arlanda Airport, we and other airport operators are seeking staff for other airports around the country, and you will also receive information about this during the recruitment day at Arlanda.

– We hope to have the opportunity to meet those of you interested in working at our regional airports on January 30th. We will have representatives from our six regional airports, Kiruna, Luleå, Åre Östersund, Umeå, Visby and Ronneby, present during the recruitment day, says Susanne Norman, airport director for Swedavia's regional airports.

– Just like at Arlanda, there's a great sense of community among staff at our regional airports, and the familiar feeling is even stronger at a smaller airport. The biggest difference if you work for Swedavia at a smaller airport compared to Arlanda is that you have a broader role where you work with more varied tasks and duties at the airport. At the regional airports, Swedavia runs more operations in-house, such as security checks and airport ground services, like baggage and passenger handling services, concludes Susanne Norman.

For those who are unable to attend the recruitment day at the Clarion Hotel, information about vacancies at both Swedavia and our partners is available on our website, see link below.
