Laura Tarkka is appointed as the new head of the group's operations in Finland and a member of the company's Group Management.
Laura Tarkka is a well-known name in Finnish business life and most recently comes from her role as CEO of Finland's largest electronics chain Gigantti. Prior to that, she has been active in the hospitality industry for several years as CEO of Kämp Collection Hotels and held several leading roles within the Fazer Group.
– Laura is a skilled leader and business strategist with experience from international companies and has a deep knowledge of hotel operations. In recent years, we have opened several new hotels in the Finnish market and with increasing demand, we are now facing a new growth phase. Scandic Finland is the group's third largest market with 61 hotels and nearly 13,000 hotel rooms. Laura Tarkka takes over the position after Aki Käyhkö, who is now leaving the company after 11 years.
– Our Finnish organization, with Aki at the helm, has created a well-liked brand with a significant position in the market, including the acquisition of Restel, which doubled the number of hotels under the Scandic flag in Finland. I am grateful for Aki's hard work in taking Scandic to where we are today and wish him all the best in his continued career, concludes Jens Mathiesen.
Laura Tarkka takes up her new role in mid-August this year.
