The company Merlin Entertainments, which operates the eight different Legolands around the world and is listed in London, states, according to the Financial Times, that growth for the Lego theme parks has stalled.

”"A lower revenue development for comparable units has been expected in 2018 after many years of very strong growth, driven by well-targeted product investments and support from The Lego Movie," Merlin CEO Nick Varney told the newspaper.

In addition to Legoland, Merlin also operates a number of other entertainment facilities such as the British Alton Towers and Blackpool Tower Circus, The Dungeons and the wax museum attraction Madame Tussauds, which in addition to London is located in 21 other cities worldwide.

Merlin also says the company will open a park in Shanghai called ”Peppa Pig World,” a facility dedicated to the character known in Swedish as Greta Gris, who is extremely popular in China. However, Greta Gris and her family are under scrutiny in China, as the social media platform Douyin recently banned references to the character after a series of videos emerged in which Greta was used to create ”vulgar” or ironic messages.
