Delta Airlines is now signaling a continued strong recovery. In conjunction with its third-quarter report, it is releasing a sharply upwardly revised forecast for the rest of 2022. Earnings per share are expected to be $1.00–$1.25, which is well above analysts' average change of $0.80.

”We have had a booking level of 90 percent since April and we see that continuing for the rest of the year and into the spring,” says CEO Ed Bastian.

Despite Hurricane Ian affecting the company's operations in the US, revenue in the third quarter was $12.8 billion, which was in line with market expectations.

Delta is now the second American airline to surprise positively. Earlier this week, competitor American Airlines reported better-than-expected results.
