On April 20, Lisebergsparken opened its gates for the 101st summer season and invited guests to a premiere day filled with festivities. At the southern entrance there was a special premiere party where the rabbits were ready and welcomed all the children with dancing, colorful balloons and 4000 rabbit ears that were handed out.
Together with the rabbits, the first 2,000 or so visitors counted down the seconds and at exactly 12:00 they poured in, thus starting the summer season 2024. Inside the gates they were greeted by a long pink carpet, decorated with a balloon arch, a sea of soap bubbles, and several hundred Liseberg residents who were ready to welcome the guests with applause, high fives and hugs.
– It is absolutely fantastic to finally open the park and once again welcome all the happy guests. It is always an important highlight we look forward to, but of course it feels extra nice and important this year, says Andrew Andersen, CEO of Liseberg.
For families with children, the next highlight of the day was the hunt for a new record: The World's Largest Rabbit Disco. Under the leadership of the rabbits on the rabbit stage, up to 1,000 children and adults danced together in the rabbit dance.
– In honor of the opening day, we wanted to go big, so we thought: why not go for a record. Rabbit disco is a genre we are pretty much alone in at Liseberg, but now we set the bar really high with a record-breaking disco and it absolutely felt like we broke the world record, says Lotta Carlsbogård, head of seasons and events at Liseberg.
The summer season runs from April 20th until September 22nd.
