In France, the national state of emergency, which is in effect during the corona epidemic, will be extended until May 11. President Macron announced this in a speech on Monday evening.

“We must continue our efforts and stick to the rules. The more they are respected, the more lives we can save,” President Macron said in his speech.

He said that current restrictions will be extended until May 11, after which a gradual return to work and schools is planned.

Then most people will be able to return to their jobs, daycare centers and schools. Even high schools can reopen. Universities, however, can only open in the summer at the earliest. But restaurants, theaters and cinemas will remain closed until at least mid-July.

But the president promised special support for these businesses, as well as for the tourism sector. The eight million wage earners, who are now without full employment, will be able to apply for financial support for another month, and families in need of financial assistance will also be able to apply for it, according to the president.
