On Wednesday, there are no available times to book to get a new passport in Gothenburg until the end of August. In Malmö, the first available times are in mid-August.

In the Stockholm region, you can book appointments during the last days of July, if you are prepared to travel outside the city, for example to Norrtälje.

At the turn of the year, the police estimated that over half a million travel documents in Sweden were no longer valid. People who had such documents were urged to obtain new ones in good time. Since May, the pressure on passport offices has increased significantly.

– It is natural that people start thinking about this, it comes with the easing of restrictions in society. But if you do not need a passport in the near future, we recommend waiting and instead renewing your passport in the fall, says Per Engström, who heads the police's special corona coordination.
