The airline Lufthansa is now confirming an agreement with the German state worth 9 billion euros to save the company from the pandemic crisis, according to a press release.

The agreement, which was leaked via the German news agency DPA earlier on Monday, means that the state will take a 20 percent stake in Lufthansa.

Lufthansa's shares traded up about 6 percent on Monday, while the entire sector was lifted by several European countries announcing in recent days that borders will open in time for the most intense tourist season during the summer.
