The German airline Lufthansa will demand compensation for flights that were canceled in Frankfurt last week due to climate activists, reports Bild am Sonntag.
Frankfurt Airport was forced to temporarily suspend operations and cancel several flights on Thursday after climate activists invaded the airport area in the middle of the peak season. Of the approximately 1,400 flights scheduled that day, around 270 were canceled, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
The amount of damages sought has not yet been determined but will be ”significantly higher” than previous claims against the climate group ”Letzte Generation,” a Lufthansa spokesman said. The airline previously demanded 740,000 euros ($800,000) in compensation for disruptions at airports in Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Berlin.
”We will also demand compensation for the damages that the climate activists have caused us in this case,” the spokesperson said.
