German airline Lufthansa's shares are up almost 6 percent on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange after the company raised its forecast for ticket revenue for the rest of the year and reported stronger-than-expected results for the second quarter of the year.
The company is getting a boost from stronger demand for domestic and transatlantic flights since competitor Air Berlin closed down operations last fall.
Lufthansa now expects revenue per passenger to increase slightly during the year. Previously, the forecast was that ticket prices would be stable.
Although an expensive expansion of the low-cost unit Eurowings is eating up a lot of profitability, Lufthansa is not adjusting its profit forecast for the full year.
For the second quarter, Lufthansa reported an operating profit of 982 million euros, compared to the expected 942 million euros.
