Lufthansa is in talks about billions in support from the German state, which may also take an ownership stake in the airline giant, Reuters reports, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.

Lufthansa is working with investment banks and advisors in the company's talks with the German government, the news agency writes.

Lufthansa has been hit hard on the stock market due to the coronavirus and has fallen by 50 percent since the turn of the year on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
