Lufthansa increased passenger numbers in August

Lufthansa transported 13.8 million passengers in August, which is an increase of 10 percent year-on-year.

The cabin load factor, which measures how full the planes are, rose by 0.5 percentage points to 86.4 percent during the month.

Capacity, ASK, rose by 8.2 percent while Lufthansa's sales increased by 8.7 percent. On the freight side, capacity increased by 3.6 percent while sales were down 0.7 percent.

The company's low-cost venture Eurowings recorded 3.8 million passengers during the month. 3.5 million of these were on short-haul flights. The number of passengers represents growth of 15.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
