Lufthansa makes big loss and lowers annual forecast after strikes

Lufthansa reports a preliminary adjusted operating profit of -849 million euros, equivalent to just over 9.8 billion SEK, in the first quarter, compared to a loss of 273 million euros in the same period last year.

According to Factset, an adjusted operating profit of -534 million was expected. 

The loss was higher than expected due to strikes, the impact of which is estimated at -350 million.

The company also expects lower results in the second quarter compared to the corresponding period last year.

For the full year, the company now forecasts an adjusted operating profit of 2.2 billion euros. The previous forecast was a stable result around last year's level of 2,682 million. According to Factset, a result of 2,582 million was expected.
