The German airline Lufthansa has put the pandemic behind it, writes CEO Carsten Spohr in his CEO's statement to the interim report for the third quarter, which ended with an adjusted operating profit of 1.1 billion euros. This was more than four times more than in the corresponding quarter the year before.

The results were in line with expectations, and the company confirmed previously published data with the report. Sales came in at 10 billion euros.

”"In an economic sense, we at Lufthansa have now put the pandemic behind us and look to the future with optimism. Demand for air travel looks set to continue with undiminished strength," writes CEO Carsten Spohr.

All the support measures that the government has put in place to save Lufthansa will be able to be terminated early at the end of the year, the company writes.

The company rises 2 percent on the Frankfurt stock exchange.
