The German airline is raising its profit forecast for 2022 after the months of October and November were stronger than expected, according to a press release.

Lufthansa continues to see strong demand and returns for passenger traffic, which has now reached higher levels than before the pandemic broke out and caused a significant downturn in the aviation market.

At the same time, Lufthansa expects record results in both its freight and technology operations in 2022, the airline writes.

Lufthansa expects operating profit to amount to around 1.5 billion euros on an adjusted basis, an increase from a previous forecast of "over 1 billion euros".

The annual report for 2022 in its entirety will be reported on March 3, 2023.

The stock climbed 4 percent shortly after the increased profit forecast was announced. Other companies in Europe's aviation sector also traded higher. Among others, Norwegian Air rose by just over 3 percent and SAS went from a negative quote for the day to an increase of 1.3 percent.
