German airline giant Lufthansa reports declining sales but increasing profits during the first quarter.

Sales amounted to EUR 7,640 million (7,691), a decrease of 1 percent compared to the previous year. Expected sales were EUR 8,192 million, according to Factet.

Operating profit was EUR 27 million (16), with an operating margin of 0.4 percent (0.2). Operating profit excluding extraordinary items was EUR 26 million (25), with an operating margin of 0.3 percent (0.3).

The result after tax was EUR -57 million (-68).

Lufthansa reiterates its forecast.
