German Lufthansa, Europe's largest airline, aims to raise the equivalent of nearly SEK 22 billion in a new share issue.

The company, which has taken a serious beating during the corona pandemic, announces that its board of directors has decided on a share issue where "gross proceeds are expected to amount to 2.1 billion euros.".

According to Lufthansa, the purpose of the transaction is to improve the company's equity and to contribute to the repayment of the state aid that saved the company from bankruptcy in June last year.
