Airlines around the world are turning their backs to survive the corona crisis. German Lufthansa, with subsidiaries such as Austrian Airlines and Swiss, will stop offering free snacks to economy class passengers from spring 2021.
It remains to be seen whether the disappointment over the initiative will trump travelers' experiences with the snacks now served.
”Our current economy class offering does not always live up to our guests” expectations,” said Christina Foerster, member of the board of directors of Lufthansa, in a statement.
Food and drinks will be available for sale on short and medium-haul flights. Lufthansa and Swiss will also offer a free bottle of water to those who want it.
